Conferences

AWS Summit Warsaw 2019

While working in Big Data and Data Architecture, I was mostly focusing on streaming data platforms and implementing a so called Kappa Architecture.

In 2019, Amazon AWS (which we were using as our main cloud service provider) asked me to present at the AWS Summit Warsaw 2019.

The topic of the talk was how we moved from a chaotic Lambda Architecture to a more performant, cheaper, near real-time Kappa Architecture that works.
And of course how we leveraged some of their managed services to help us during the migration...

Academic papers in Artificial Intelligence

Back in the days, I published a few papers in Symbolic AI, on the topic of Statistical Predicate Invention: in a nutshell, the process of inventing new relationships between objects, like people do.

For instance, the relationship underlying the concept of a desk differs very much from that of a generic table. However, even though the more generic concept of a table should always suffice, it doesn't, and we do use the specialized instance of a desk instead...

But when is the moment for a new relation to be introduced?
